Relief for Haiti
FBWM member ministries provide water
filter units to help thousands
As you know conditions in Haiti continued to deteriorate for months following the catastrophic magnitude 7.0 Mw earthquake, of January 12, 2010. February estimates indicate three million people were affected by the quake, between 217,000 and 230,000 people had died, and an estimated 300,000 were injured, and aproximately were 1,000,000 homeless. Like you, we are very concerned and want to help alleviate some of the suffering. The FBWM member ministries are partnering with like-minded evangelical agencies* to raise funds to purchase state of the art mobile water purification units. Each unit weighs about 38 pounds and filters any kind water of from rivers, lakes, ponds ... into pure drinking water.
This is a great need for more than 3 million people in Haiti. These amazing units can each filter over 200 gallons an hour. They can individually filter over 53,000 gallons of water before the filters need to be washed and then are ready for the next 53,000 gallons. Each unit can be used independently or placed into a sledge which contains 16 units that can filter an incredible 3,800 gallons per minute. These units are especially advantageous in areas where the large truck sized units cannot go.
You can help provide pure water for drinking, cooking, surgeries, and hygiene. Each unit costs $2500. I know you may have already contributed to Haiti relief efforts. We thank the Lord for that! However, we are asking you to pray over this request and share it with your friends and colleagues.
We are committed to raising $50,000 which will provide for the purchase of 20 separate water purification units. We need those who can commit to funding an entire unit ($2500) and also those who can contribute $20, $50, or $100 to this worthy cause. Any amount will help!
Time is of the essence. We are praying this open door for providing clean water will lead years of new and expanded Great Commission work in Haiti.
